Data Scientist (Renewable Energy Generation Forecasting Models & Algorithm Development)

Key Responsibilities

  • Core Algorithm Development: Develop and refine renewable energy generation forecasting models (solar, wind, hydro) by integrating advanced numerical weather prediction (NWP) models and satellite meteorological data.

  • Model Performance & Reliability: Design AI-based forecasting algorithms (e.g., time series neural networks), optimize hyperparameters, and conduct multi-scenario validation to maximize model accuracy and stability.

  • Data & Operational Infrastructure: Design data pipelines (ETL/ELT) for large-scale meteorological and observational datasets, and establish automated MLOps systems for model training, deployment, and monitoring.

  • Technical Strategy & Scalability: Design and implement high-availability, scalable cloud-based (AWS, GCP, etc.) architectures for national- or continent-level forecasting services.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field with 5+ years of experience.

  • Proficient in Python for time series forecasting and analysis; experienced in implementing and tuning statistical and AI-based models.

  • Experience in large-scale database design, SQL query optimization, or MLOps system implementation.

  • Highly self-motivated with a continuous learning mindset.

  • Alignment with the company’s mission to solve social challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in preprocessing/feature engineering for numerical weather prediction models (e.g., LDAPS, KIM, WRF) and meteorological satellite data.

  • Experience in power systems, energy markets, or participation in meteorology/climate-related public R&D projects.

  • Interest in climate tech (energy, environment, etc.).

  • Experience in startups or entrepreneurial ventures.
