RE100 Management and Subscription Services Transferred to New Entity as Global Expansion Accelerates
Seoul, April 10, 2025 – 60Hertz Inc., an energy IT social venture, has announced the establishment of its new subsidiary Goodnews Energy, which will specialize in the development and operation of services supporting the global shift toward renewable energy.
As part of this organizational restructuring, 60Hertz has transferred two key offerings to the new entity—the renewable energy subscription platform 'Monthly Sun & Wind' and its RE100 management services tailored for corporate clients—in a move aimed at enhancing service specialization and operational efficiency. 'Monthly Sun & Wind' is already adopted by major corporations such as Kakao and Hyundai Motor Group, as well as leading eco-conscious companies like York.
Jonggyu Kim, CEO of 60Hertz, explained,
“With a growing customer base and more diverse demands, we decided to spin off these services to enable more agile and professional responses. 60Hertz will continue to strengthen its identity as an enterprise IT solutions company in the energy sector.”
Minyoung Song, Director of Service Development at Goodnews Energy, added,
“We’re receiving increasing inquiries from global companies with overseas production bases. We are currently conducting pilot projects in the United States and Vietnam, and aim to officially launch in more than three countries within this year.”
60Hertz first gained industry recognition in 2021 with the launch of the Virtual Power Plant of Korea, connecting over 130,000 solar, wind, and energy storage systems across the country. The company later introduced the Renewable Energy Map, a free AI-powered platform that visualizes and predicts the generation output of approximately 80,000 renewable energy plants (with a combined capacity of 18GW) using real-time weather data.
Its proprietary Energy Management System (EMS) received a CES Innovation Award in 2023, and in 2024, 60Hertz was named one of the Top 100 Climate Tech Companies in the Asia-Pacific by the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), accelerating its push into global markets.
CEO Kim concluded,
“Goodnews Energy will carry forward the social venture philosophy of 60Hertz. We are also preparing new business models in collaboration with NGOs, both domestic and international, to support energy-vulnerable communities.”
