Key Responsibilities
About the Team
The GridFlex team at 60Hertz builds intelligent energy control technologies, including Virtual Power Plants (VPP), Demand Response (DR), and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) integration based on renewable energy resources.
Driven by a mission to address the climate crisis, we transform massive energy datasets and complex business logic into logical and intuitive services.
As a Backend Engineer, you will take the lead in designing, building, and operating high-reliability backend systems at the core of the energy business.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop large-scale real-time data pipelines and API hubs
Design and optimize databases for energy big data management
Operate and manage cloud and on-premise services (DevOps)
Qualifications
7+ years of backend engineering experience, or equivalent competency
Proficiency in Java or Python
Experience with: Oracle, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka
Practical and solution-oriented mindset—focused on solving real-world challenges rather than sticking to specific tools or stacks
Strong belief in iterative development and listening to customer feedback to build high-quality products
Comfortable meeting enterprise-level engineering and operational requirements (security, documentation, compliance, etc.)
Self-motivated with the curiosity and willingness to continuously learn across domains
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in climate tech (energy, environment, decarbonization, etc.)
Experience leveraging AI-based development tools to drive productivity
Passion for solving social and environmental problems
Proven ability to collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders
